Background

Dwelling Design Studio came about in 2015, but the motivation for it has been a lifelong passion. Ever since I could hold a crayon in my hand and wrangle the brainpower to put some legos together I have loved creating homes. I found it both soothing and stimulating to sketch plans and elevations of “dream homes” throughout grade school, which lead me to apply to Architecture School. I received my Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia, and my career in design has taken many forms since allowing me to engage in nation-wide consulting, single room improvements, full home renovations, and collaborations on new builds, multi-unit residences, and hotels.

Design Theory

Throughout my studies and work experience, I have developed what I believe to be a holistic approach to design. I seek good architecture; if the bones for the space aren’t already there I figure out how they can be made stronger. I understand the design process- the materials, budgeting, scheduling, and entities that make each job possible. And lastly, with every job I learn something new; the vast range of clientele I have been able to work with from job scale to style has lead me to not confine myself to offering a specific aesthetic, but rather push my design limits to make sure each space reaches its full potential all the while speaking to its inhabitants in a way that gives them the comfort of “home”.
